Yo!

The good, bad and ugly

Why not start with the good...
Location: This place is very close to Penn's campus and University City. A block or two from Septa, bus stops in front of building.
Mail: Mail is efficient and all packages are held at the front desk. It's good cuz you don't have to worry about being in your apt to receive important stuff.
Amazing view: Only if your apartment faces west. If you face the inner courtyard, you will look at brick walls.

Here's the bad:
Security: So the 24 hour security is a bunch of crap. The guards don't know who to stop or not. At first they would stop everyone. That was crap because you couldn't even come check your mail without showing your key. And how does showing your key, show that you live there' You could show them your wallet and it wouldn't matter. I personally have had the police called on me because I did not show my key. The security should pay attention to the folks who they don't recognize. Another incident, last week the police knocked on my door and told me there was somebody dangerous roaming the hallways. Wow.
Expensive: This place is expensive compared to other places. My rent went up over $100 in one year. Renovations don't mean anything.
Construction: There is always construction. How about they fix the elevators' No, they are too busy decorating the elevators.
Maintenance: Once my key didn't work. Chestnut hall uses special keys that are electronic and you cannot copy. So my lock was reprogramed and nobody told me. Thus I came home one night and couldn't get into my apartment. Maintenance guy came 2 hours later and would not re-program my key. Long story there...
Parking: Parking in front of this building is just asking for a ticket. The loading zone in front is a rip-off. THe parking people still write you tickets. Also they changed the parking rules so that the meters include Sunday. Ridiculous. Also, forget about parking on a Wed, Fri, Sat or Sun night. Due to the "old school" bar/fish joint on the corner, you can't find available parking on those evenings.

The ugly...

Communication: THe management office does not know how to communicate with residents. Putting a sign in the elevator saying your power will be cut off all day, just doesn't cut it. Especially when there is no advanced notice. Management also leaves random notices in your mailbox, usually about something not important like what they are going to do to you if you do not cooperate with them. When you try to talk to the management office, they treat you like you are dumb. Half the time, they don't know what's going on. They always blame their poor policies on the AIMCO company which isn't acceptable.
