OH THE HORROR!

I have been living in Chestnut Hell for almost a year now and let me tell you couple of things about it.
1- Awful management: they are usually clueless, don't seem to care much about the building and the residents. My guess is that they are as unhappy as the residents are to be stuck in such a place.
2- two words: FIRE ALARM. The fire alarms go off at least once a week (when there is no fire), at most inconvenient times (4 am in the morning). I hear it's been the same way for years now and they never fixed it. Even the Philadelphia Fire Department takes its time when it sends firetrucks over- sometimes they don't even show up! 3- RENT is definitely too high (I pay around 1000 dollars for a tiny studio) 4- Maintenance does not show up most of the time when you need them AND they feel free to just walk into your apartment as they see fit even though you have specified that they do not have authorization to enter the apartment when the resident is not there. Once I went into my apartment and realized things had been moved around- the couch the table, the chairs: the management's explanation was that the maintenance guys working next door smelled gas coming from my apartment. (!!!)
5- THE ELEVATORS...oh the elevators! Where shall I start' 2 of them rarely work. The other one occasionally stops when the residents are in it (it happened to me 3 times already). And the worst thing is that they take their sweet time rescuing those stuck in the elevator (according to my calculations I have spent a total of 3 hours and 20 minutes in them- nearly missed an exam once).
Finally this is an ancient building that no one should ever have to live in, there are plenty of decent places around for less money and a better environment.
So make yourself a favor and do not ever EVER move here. Trust me.
ps. I am pretty sure the few good reviews posted have been written either by the Management or AIMCO employees.
