UPDATE: 29 Nov 2006: By the way, regarding CHV employees and (more especially) AIMCO regional mgmt and AIMCO Construction Division: acting friendly unfortunately is completely separate from being competent or being honest. They have always been nice to our faces, but they still let all kinds of things go on that shouldn't. You have to wonder how much contempt they secretly have for us "suckers"---especially AIMCO, much more than the CHV rank-and-file, many of whom are just regular Joes and Janes trying to make a living but have their hands tied because AIMCO often doesn't allow them to spend the money to do things correctly). The only recourse is to document the problems, LEAVE, and then tell the world about the experience to discourage "sucker replacement" as much as possible.
ORIGINAL REVIEW (22 Sep 2006): -The subject line gives you the warning you need. Don't ignore it. -The image that the marketers try to project for this place does NOT match the true attitude of the management underneath the fake smiles. There are major problems with maintenance responsiveness, including you being ignored, the heat continually breaking down, the village buildings being used as college dormitories (noise, vandalism, graffiti, trash, damage), etc. -They want your money for a few years until you figure out for yourself what the REAL deal is (does NOT match the ads), then you move on and they get a fresh sucker. -WARNING: Notice that most reviews of CHV on this site are negative. THERE ARE REASONS. Also note that among the few positive ratings, about half are fake ringers written by CHV/AIMCO, and the other half are by people who haven't been here very long and are still snowed by the initial con job.
