You probably get the idea. Do not rent here! Management tried to dress up a pig and it keeps getting dirty. I will give them this, the reneovations are actually quite well done. I saw the old apartment and it was a mess. After the renovations, there is a new kitchen, bathroom and flooring. The only other nice thing is the apartments are relatively warm and the heating bill isn't that high.

Now the bad. The burgalaries is a bad problem. The building I live in was broken into 3 times in December of 07 before there was any warning letter. I had to buy a lock for my laptop and computer. Now there are shopping carts showing up in front on the building - the true sign of ghettoness. I'm just waiting for the day where someone get hurt in the complex. The building also leaks water which destroyed our wedding album, clothes, etc - no apologies from management. B/c of the leak, there was mold growing on the carpet. The maintenance took 19 days to come out to replace the carpet but did not fix the leak. They only came out after I wrote them a letter and cc'd the Philadelphia Building License Dept. Again, no apologies. Another annoying thing is the property requires $350 fee for the pool every year. The washer and dryers are constantly broken. They take your quarters and nothing happens. Nothing you can do about it.

AMEN!!! I just moved out, after exactly one year of hearing constant hammering, sawing, banging, and other various construction noises at all hours and on weekends. I complained so many times about the washers, they eventually agreed (once) to pay for me to have my laundry done across the street. You didn't mention the elevators - the ones in my building did not work for, in total, about half the year I lived there. Any time I complained to management, I got the exact same response, from about 4 different people: "I am so sorry, that shouldn't be that way. I totally agree with you - the old management was bad, but I am new here, and things are going to be different in the future because of all the changes we're making." But nothing would ever change.

I moved in this place on Feb 10,2008 And will be moving out April 31,2008 Just 3 months and i could not take it any longer This place looks okay but trust me it's not okay. The mice are bad very bad I did not even move all of my furniture it's still in storage thank god for that now i can just move it to my new place. If you want to live in a nice looking place with mice running around your apartment than chestnut hill village is the place. But i am BEGING YOU PLEASE DON'T DO IT. IT'S BAD VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD.

I am disappointed to hear this. Most of the reviews are so negative. It has the look of a charming community. I like the idea of a pool and the convenience of shopping and such. Is it really that bad? Please say it isn't so. Can you recommend a nice apt in the area? THANKS.

"If you want to live in a nice looking place with mice running around your apartment than chestnut hill village is the place." You hit the nail on the head! I moved in just three weeks ago and I've already had problems with mice! In fact, there is one chewing through the wall behind my bed as I type. Furthermore, I saw one run across the kitchen floor about two days ago. I plan to call management today, however, I suspect that they won't be much help. When I called to complain about none of the phone jacks working in my apartment, they told me to hire a private contractor to fix them and then apply for reimbursement! This place sucks!
