You can find better - horrible new management

If you are looking in the Philadelphia area for apartments I wouldn't suggest looking here. For the past few years the complex has been in process of remodeling their apartments. When we were ready to move in we looked at newly remodeled apartments and the old ones. There was no true difference between the two except new carpet and new appliances. There are basic things about the apartment and the complex itself that make if a mediocre place to live. In our bedroom the drywall above our bed is cracked and sagging. When I called the complex to fix it they painted over it. The washer and dryer have both broke. The walls in the bathroom and bedroom get this weird yellowish/green film on it (our neighbor has the same thing in their apartment). We had leaves from the trees covering the sidewalk until February, which was very dangerous. The leaves would become slippery and freeze when cold and cause people to slip. The staff never responded to this complaint when I made it in December. It took two months to be taken care of. We also had a problem with mice, which still has not been taken care of. It's not enjoyable to see mouse droppings on your counter each morning. The management staff is condescending and unresponsive. I've called the complex several times and they rarely return my calls. The experience of Chestnut Hill is good but if you are looking for a place around here, you can do better than Chestnut Hill Village. Don't waste your money here.

This must have been written by one of the residents whose lease was not renewed and couldnt afford to upgrade. If you hated it so much, then why did you stay for so long?

I've had the same problem with the wall. Those people think we are stupid or something. I've called them because the wall/ceiling in my bedroom was cracked and sagging. Everytime they sent someone, they will just paint over and tell me the problem was fixed. I would believe them until it rained again. I will say no more! Same with the leaves on the walkways. Not only those are dangerous (i've seen people trip and fall while going to the train station) but they make you carpet so dirty. Not sure if dvenier is still living at CHV or moved and if it had anything to do with the upgrade (which is crap by the way), but i am still there and affording the place... staying only because i am trying to by a house and like the Chestnut Hill area.

In response to the first post: I could afford to upgrade to one of the new apartments. But why would I spend 1200 on an apartment when I can rent a house for 1250? We stayed so long because: 1. They are one year leases. 2. My fiance and I are both in school and work full time; it's hard to find the time to move when we are both doing so many things. 3. The new apartments aren't that nice. New carpet and appliances, that???s it. The walls and internal workings of the apartment haven't changed. In response to the second comment: Try looking right outside of the city. You can afford a good house in nice areas with what you are paying at CHV.
