I am getting a zero read on my meter so they decide to charge me a estimated ussage charge. This would be fine if they first didn't read the meter. But because they assume it is broken they charge you the which changes every month between $30-60. Thats on top of a $40-100 base usage fee that is charged every month for the entire appartment building. This is for a 1 bedroom appartment on the second floor. So there are appartments surronding the entire place. Its insane!
They are no longer accept credit card charges. They are moving to evict people after the 8th of the month without rent payment.
This is the loudest place I have ever lived. Construction starts at 7am, Fun!
They said that the new Gym and stuff would be done by August 2008. It just opened February 2009. And its is alot smaller then I expect. They also allow you to rent out the space for alot of money. So it may not always be able to be used. They charge a one-time $300 fee for the pool which is really small/ and the gym which is equally as small, which I was never told about. They charge $75 if you accidently lock your self out, on off hours. It would be cheaper for a lock smith. Its easy to do when you do laundry.
The area is not as Nice as you think. People walk through the parking lots from and to bus stops. Some of the cameras in the parking lot do not work.
The fire alarms went off, because someone sprayed a fire extinguisher on the basement floor. It took around 45mins for 3 fire stations to arrive at the same time. After talking to the firemen, we determined that it was the alarm company not sending the call to the fire stations.
Please do not Leave here! Not worth it at all.

Hi CHV resident. I live in the community and you can fight the estimated charged. They legally can not charge you for a 0 read. Every month they are removing "estimated charge" from my bill. They legally have to. Call and fight with management.

First off, who in their right mind just lays back and pays for charges they werent informed about? You legally dont have to pay for anything you werent told about in advance, so if you wanna be a sucker thats your problem. Second of all, I just paid my rent with a credit card so saying they dont accept credit card charges is just not true. Third, you're mad about the eviction thing? Just pay your rent on time you loser. Fourth, I do not believe the apartment complex has any control over street construction and even if there's construction at the complex, when are they supposed to start mid afternoon so you can sleep in? get over yourself who do you think you are Paris Hilton? the gym and clubhouse arent big enough for you? 95% of apartment complexes dont even offer such nice things unless you're paying like 1600 in rent. That clubhouse is beautiful, and you're ungrateful.

Actually, most complexes now offer gyms and clubhouses. I just moved out of CHV to an apartment complex near Manayunk where I pay less rent then I would have if I had stayed in Chestnut Hill and have wonderful amenities. When I was looking for a new apartment, every single complex I checked out had gyms with newer equipment then Chestnut Hill Village. And as a resident/employee of CHV, Bonnie knows that everything that EVERYONE is saying about this complex is 100% true. It's crap. Don't move here, you will regret it. Check out the places on Henry Avenue, every single one of them is much nicer!
If I knew how to take out a class action lawsuit again Chestnut Hill Village (and AIMCO), I would. In a heartbeat. This complex should be closed down.
Oh, and one more thing. I hadn't hear the halfway house rumor until right now, but it sure would explain all the shady individuals that hang out in and around the complex. Chestnut Hill is a nice area and they just jacked the rent up on a 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment to around $1500/mo, utilities. I paid about $400 less then that when I lived there, I have a decent salaried job, and had a hard time affording the place with a roommate. I just don't understand why so many criminals would be around the complex if they weren't getting cut some type of deal. There are a lot of robberies in the complex too (even maintenance has been known to steal stuff).
