I should have listened to the previous reviewers. I decided not to rent after being shown a studio apt. The security doors in front of the building and the side were broken. So I took a look around the place before the agent got there. The dumpster was full of carpeting and insulation that had a strong damp smell. There was also an apartment door (#101) that appeared heavily damaged. Once in the building, I was overwhelmed by the smell of mildew. I met a few people and they seemed hesitant to endorse living in the building mainly because the place in noisy. Apparently there was a catastrophic plumbing situation that damaged both of the street-side apartments on the second floor and totally destroyed the street-side apartment on the first floor (#101). Later, I asked the agent about the smell and initially she refused to address the issue. When we got to the second floor, I pointed out a gaping hole above the door to #201 (and stumbled over the warped floors). The apartment I viewed (#203)was only a little better. The carpet was new, the paint was fresh, and the space was open and airy. But the flaws were bad. The sink in bathroom was a tiny "Home depot special," of the interior walls was warped/slanted and the kitchen had no fridge or sink and no place for said items to be. The agent kept saying something about renovations, but there is a difference between renovations and bringing something up to code. When I told her I didn't like the kitchen, the agent asked, "so you're looking for something more permanent'" This place is run by Philly Gardens.
