update to substandard living

I am a resident at Deauville Apartments located in Roxborough. Unfortunately my lease renewed and I am sentence to doom for another year at this place. The living conditions are horrible and the buliding actually expects monthly rent for substandard living. From the first day I moved in I have experienced the tenant down the hall leaving her trash outside of her door, several baby carriages and whatever trash the family walks out of their apartment. Children run and play in the hallways. The children deface the walls and nothing is done. This activity was reported to the leasing office severall times by several tenants. Let me not forget that a new leasing company took ownership in March 2007.
A tenant's meeting was formed in April discussing repairs needed in and around the building. L & I was called and several issues were reported including but not limited to plumbing, window, holes, bugs and etc.... As of 06/25/2007, per L & I there are still open cases with no resloution. I reported a leak in my bedroom over 6 months ago. It took maintenance several weeks to stop the leak from the apartment above. Unfortunately they never came back to repair the walls. There is mold present now. I reported a leak in the bathroom shower over two months ago. It took the leasing office a month to respond and about 10 days afterwards to send maintenance to stop the leak. During that time the part of the ceiling fell in. Now there's a hole in the ceiling in the shower with wires hanging from it. There is also mold present. Maintenance was supposed to come out June 4th to fix the hole and address the mold but I have yet hear or see anyone.
Railings outside of the building are not secured to the steps. Instead it is laying on the side of the steps on the ground where someone pulled the railing apart from the structure. Tenants fight in the hallways and punch holes in the walls. The wall surrounding the elevator has at least a 2 1/2 foot hole in the wall which a tenant punched. The tenants children mades matter worse by picking at the wall making the hole that much bigger.
The entrance to the ground floor apartments is filled with rubbish and garbage left by tenants. There is also a shopping cart in the stairwell filled with trash and rubbish. There are insects, bugs and maggots in that area. There are tiny flying insects in the hallways which sometimes gets into my apartment if I don't close the door right away.
Garbage removal is provided by a private company. The guy only puts on the truck what falls in the chute. Anything that falls off the truck remains in street until cars or kids roll over it or play in it. Large items such as couches, beds, and dressers that can't fit in the dumpster will not be removed. The driver refuses to lift anything that is not in the dumpster. Maintenance will come by ever so often and stack the beds and dresser next to the dumpster so at least cars can get by. On the upper level of one of the balconies are two shopping carts with trash in it that tenants are too lazy to take to the dumpsters.
There is a vacant apartment next door to me which is occupied illegally. Unsure if it's an employee or a squatter occupant. The window is broken to that apartment...possibility of how people are getting in. The window has been broken since I moved in April 2006.
There is illegal drug activity taking place in the front of the building at night. Police has been called several times and nothing has been done regarding the security in the building. It appears the local drug dealer and the diner across the street has some connections.
I can probably can go on and on about this dump I live in. I just want to be let out of my lease and rid of all headaches. I am afraid to have my sons over to visit because I don't want them to get sick because of the mold. I have asthma too and unsure of how that can affect my health.
I've contacted the leasing office on numerous occasions. You'd be lucky to get them on the phone once a week. You have to constantly leave messages for Dave to call back. Dave is the property manager and doesn't manage the property. He sits in the office, talks on his cell phone and ignore phone calls that come into the office.
This place is a nightmare and I am regretting not researching about water village apts in the beginning. I had no say in new management...L & S properties but they are no better. They haven't fixed a door knob in the place yet. I understand they inherited a "problem child" so to speak but they are doing nothing to resolve.
I just want to warn other's not to fall victim to the Deauville Apartments.

I couldn't agree more! This place is a joke, a dump, a dive and a very clear and present danger to all who come across it's horrific threshold!
