Read the rebuddle to this letter afterwards and you will realize the truth about this building and the corporate munipulation of Depaul Management Company:

I have heard from some of you regarding your concerns about the decision to discontinue the front desk service. This was a corporate decision and we researched the options before making the decisions. We made the decision based on the fact that the building has numerous entrances that we have experienced problems with residents and guests leaving them open. The front desk service was not a security service and did not patrol the building. The service was to assist with packages and directions focused only on the front lobby area. We have made arrangements to accept you packages in the office as well as deliver them to your apartment if necessary. We have installed the new entry guard system that will now allow you to be alerted as to a guest's arrival. The systm also allows you to tune your TV to channel 96 to view your guest in the lobby foyer. We are asking that you now be more consious as to not allowing unknown visitors in or to follow you into the building. The proper thing is that you will have to tell them that they will need to use the entry guard system to contact the party they are here to visit. The exterior doors are all now alarmed aind if they are left open they will sound an alarm and send a signal to a central monitoring station. The monitoring service will call the proper authorities. The systmen is designed to help us monitor our building much better but we will need all of you to use the system correctly to make it efficient. We have connected to a live answering service to assist you after hours as well. We will be distributing a magnet for you with the office number (215-877-xxxx) on it should you need to contact the staff during or after office hours. Please feel free to contact me should you have any other concerns that you would like to discuss contact the Regional Manager.

The letter starts saying it was a corporate decision. Are the tenants not to be consulted' Are we important' Don't we deserve something better than a letter under the door'

The letter continues with the purpose of the front desk, however, it doesn't address that they a year earlier took away roving security guards. Furthermore, the front desk served as a representative of the building. Although, they were not security their existence prevented limitless problematic situations including crime. Imagine going to a large corporation and there was not a receptionist or representative there to greet you or provide directions.

The new security system is inadequate. The audacity to ask me who pays over 1k a month to govern my building by jeopardizes my safety is absurd.

It was mentioned that we can monitor the entrance on our television. It is not our duty to sit there and watch rather or not the entrance is secure. The system only works on urbanCableWorks system and a fifth of the building has satellite. Just this week somebody rip all the wires located in the hallway out, therefore cable viewers could not see the lobby anyway.

The after hour services are not that great but have been somewhat effective. Who wants somewhat effectiveness'

Yeah, a magnet to remind us how we have been deceived. We want from a community with a community room, security, and a front desk attendant to a call box, a little camera, and alarmed doors that work most of the time. I hope Depaul Management does not consider this progress.

I will not mention the nuisances with the trash rooms, dirty laundry rooms, rear elevator smelling like trash after trash is emptied, vandalism, soliciters entering the building unauthorized, management ability to respectively communicate to the tenants, stolen vehicles, faulty fire alarm system.

What I spoke in this editorial is honorable and accurate. I have acted within the legal realm. I challenge anybody to prove different. Until later - A concerned consumer and resident.

Why would you continue to live in this building given all of these negative situations?
