I too currently live in the Duval and while you experience some crime element around the building itself is as safe as they can make it. I am happy with the Security doors, survelliance cams around and in the building as well as the new laundry facilities. I guess its what you are looking for but I am from Northern VA area and while its not what I am used to I am satisfied. Ruth is attentive as well as the maintenance staff so I give it a go. But then again its all in what you are looking for.

The security doors are not too secure when people let other people in with them. The door is often opened by others that don't question the person they're letting in. I had an issue with someone trying to break into my apt and found out that the security cameras don't work. They are only there as a theft deterrence. Several apts have been broken into since I have lived there.

That's interesting, who did you find that out from? I was able to get a photographic image from the creep who ran off with my bag in the lobby so the cameras are definitely working. Have you talked with Ruth about your concerns? I am no longer in Duval because quite frankly I wanted to step it up but i am still with Classic Mgt. at Greene Manor (across the street). And yes Greene Manor is old as well ... its the Germantown area; everything is old, no? But maintenance has always come within 1-2 days of me calling and I have had to call on a resident and it was handled and havent had a problem since. I am sorry that you are having or had a bad expereince. Could it be you haven't been the easiest person to deal with? Good luck.
