I've lived at this complex for close to 3 years and frankly, I can't wait to get out of here. I agree with many of the comments previously stated. And I'm not a resident who complains a lot about things, like someone implied.
Truths: 1. shady characters who work here: Yeah, some of the staff leave something to be desired. It would help if they were more professionally dressed so you'd be able to identify who does what. I've never had issues w/maintenance staff, but many of them seem real shady too.
2. security: What security' Half of the time, if not more, the security gate out front is not even closed. Anyone could drive through and enter the apartment building. Not that it matters because quite frequently my access card to the liftgate doesn't even work. I have to get it reset quite frequently.
3. the stench that is the hallway: I totally agree with the person who said you walk into the hallway and wonder what the smell of the day is gonna be. That was funny, but soooo true. And the person who mentioned the stench that reeks during the summer months when you have to venture into the basement for your mail/laundry room/garage. It would also help if residents would stop leaving huge bags of trash in the trash room.
4. sinks: I'm about done with the kitchen sink. I feel like I call maintenance about every month now to fix it and I hardly use it because I rarely cook. But this is getting ridiculous. Although I must say that I appreciate the followup calls management or whoever is making now after service. The message said something to the effect that they were checking up because I had requested service frequently. Duh. And now I've noticed my bathroom sink starting to have a problem.
5. bathtub: I can never take a bath in my tub because the paint is peeling on the bottom of it. They were nice enough to send some man to resurface it, but less than a year later, it started peeling again and now looks exactly as it did when I moved in. I won't even bother telling them about that again. I didn't know if I was the only one w/this problem. But one day recently I saw the same guy who refinished the tub in the lobby. Funny.
6. Remodelling: I'm not sure what's the deal w/the new decorative door things they've got going, but I'm not sure I really like them. And even though they redid the first floor, I think the green color is awful and putrid.
7. Office staff: I don't have many interactions w/the office staff. But the few times that I have gone down there, it seems like there is always a long wait for something. I think their customer service skills are lacking. I never have problems w/the nice two ladies who work the info desk during the day. They are very nice and helpful. Other times, I feel like I'm bothering the other people who staff the desk because they're usually on the telephone. And one gentleman told me I couldn't pick my package up until the daytime. Found out later that they have the keys to the office where they lock up packages. He was probably just too lazy to get up and find it for me.
I really liked my apartment when I first moved here. It wasn't the best, but it was the best of what I had looked at. And as time has passed and management has changed hands, it's gone down. And I'm tired of the same old issues being issues. I've never had a rodent or bug problem or anything like that. But it's time to look for something else. It has some potential but if things continue to go as they have been, it's gonna be in serious trouble before too long.
