total incompetence - stay away
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 9/12/2008
Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
I moved in about a month ago, and so far the cons FAR outweigh the pros on this place. let's start with the pros, though:
- huuuge apartments. the space is wonderful and they definitely don't skimp out on closet space, either.
- great layouts of the apartments
- i know others have complained about not being able to find parking spaces, but so far i haven't had a problem with this at all
- the grounds are kept clean
- minimal noise. unless my neighbor plays music really loud (i can then hear the bass), i am totally unaware of others living around me
now the cons:
- MANAGEMENT, MANAGEMENT, MANAGEMENT. i have NEVER met a more incompetent team of property managers as genevieve and connie. genevieve is nice, but so spacey. connie acts like you're bothering her. they don't communicate effectively, so if i called and asked them both the same question, i'm almost guaranteed to get a totally different answer. they've lost paperwork i submitted to them, which was frustrating.
- MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE, MAINTENANCE. is SLOW AS HELL. i have called about a problem relating to our faucet FIVE TIMES, people, FIVE TIMES, over the last month, and genevieve has promised on EACH of those occasions that she was sending the maintenance guy that afternoon or the next day. no one has ever come to fix it. i am fed up and am about to just call a plumber and have him bill the apartment. this is getting ridiculous.
- i hate the layout of the building itself. there are exit signs in the hallways LITERALLY every five feet, so it's hard to tell where an actual damn exit is (stairway or elevator). the elevators are often broken so you have to find a stairway to navigate the floors.
- people prop doors open to the hallways, and main doors that lead from the outside in. i haven't heard of this posing any safety problems YET, but just anyone can wander in, and i hate that.
- the elevators are too small to move large furniture. had to carry our HEAVY, large entertainment center up the stairs. same with couch and bookshelves.
so here's the deal. if you never had to deal with genevieve/connie, and nothing went wrong inside your apartment and if you didn't ever need maintenance, this place would be a fine choice. but they make life so frustrating that it's just not worth it, i promise you. find another apartment where the managers actual know what they're doing, and the maintenance people actually come fix your issues in a timely fashion. Because the building is older, you likely WILL need to get SOMETHING fixed at some point. this place is a joke.
