a nice place to live

I have been a resident on one of the higher floors for a year now. I am in a 2br/2bath, three walk in closets and a dining room. I will honestly say I like it here, its not perfect, but a great place to live nonetheless.
Problems have been minimal, an unlicensed daycare across the hall, i can occasionally hear the neighbors through my bedroom wall, i can hear noise from the vine st expressway, the smoke detectors can be a pain, as they are very sensitive. I agree that SOME of the security guards are rude.
I never have a problem with hot water, other than its TOO hot. The cost of laundry is reasonable and there are 3 washers/3dryers on every floor. Maintenance is polite and very helpful. I have never had words with the the desk staff, but my roommate has has disagreements and has been angry a few times. I don't have a car, (i gave it to charity), I use public trans or I walk. Market East train station is three blocks away. One of the things I don't like is the panhandling down the street at the local Wawa, so I usually walk up and down 12th rather than 11th.
there are three grocery stores within walking distance, all of them around 8-10 blocks away, not including all the chinatown stores and the Reading Terminal Market.
There ARE mice in the building, nowever, i have never seen one in my unit.
The public halls are very wide, and well kept. I know they have shampood the carpets in the common area four times since I moved in last july. They have also washed the outside windows twice in that time frame.
overall, I would highly reccommend it here. The building is full of professionals with a few families mixed in.
Yes, this used to be the Hawthorne Suites Hotel. Big deal. The Packer Building down the street used to be an automotive construction facility.
