Overall, this place is ok if you have the tolerance of Gandhi and can deal with the management...or manage to avoid dealing with them at all. Management and maintenance are EXTREMELY slow to fix problems and return calls even if you are very persistent. This is especially troubling, as some of the issues I have called about pose potential safety hazards and even led to some of my property being stolen!

Pros: charming exterior and nice landscaping, spacious units with beautiful hardwood floors (though some do have carpets), reasonable price for space/location, located close to Upsal regional rail station, rent includes heat and hot water, free off-street parking

Cons: located in Germantown, not Mt. Airy as advertised, so you have to deal with the WORST post office in the city (frequent lost/stolen mail, no mail forwarding despite numerous requests, incompetent employees, lines only rivaled by the DMV on a Saturday); lackluster management (made mistakes on lease, constantly given conflicting info., don't return calls, quick to take a nasty tone when you are clearly in the right!), slow-as-molasses maintenance; not the most quiet complex -- you can hear people talking, walking around, listening to TV/music through the floors and doors; false advertising (was told the heavily stained and worn carpet in communal areas would be replaced and that elevator would be completed months before it finally became functional, 1st month free rent special used to reel tenants in is non-existent, advertised cooking gas as included but the ranges are electric); expensive, poorly ventilated laundry room ($3 to wash & dry 1 small load), units lack modern amenities such as a dishwasher; mice (as with most apartments) and bugs

I totally agree with you, but can go one step further. The are notorious for cancelling you lease, and threatening you with their slick comnpany lawyer. You're lucky all you heard was music, and talking...imagine being awakened at 3:00am to someone making love very passionately, or arguing and fighting. Or even a baby crying almost for two hours at 12am when you have to get up for work at 5:00am. They love their nasty, foul spirited manager. She is always evil. I'd be homeless if this was the last place to live on earth. the mice and rats have their own apartments there. No one does anything about it. Unless they have fixed the roof, get ready for mole and your linen smelling and wet. There was damage to my walls, linen, closet. Also it was a bad leak through the walls to the apartment below me because of the patchwork they kept doing on the roof. The carpet, it was like that three years ago; so it has always been filthy. When I moved their in 2004 the elevator broke down every other week. And stayed that way for months. So you're lucky they finally fixed it. I would never recommend anyone here. The outside can really give you a false impression.
