Lots Of Money, Little Service

I will try to be as objective as possible by giving everyone the pros and the cons. First off let me say that I was new to the Philadelphia area and Korman was recommended to me by someone who lived there years ago. One thing they did warn me about however was not to get an apartment on the first floor because of a previous huge flood that damaged all the first floor apartments and Korman did nothing to help. However here are my personal experiences:

Pros:

1. The apartments are very large. My one bedroom apartment was bigger than most people's 2-3 bedroom apartment.

2. The location was convenient at least for me. There is a trolley and bus line within walking distance.

3. The amenties are nice. Refrigerator, dishwasher and washer/dryer in the unit was very convenient to have (but please look at the cons).

4. There is a shopping center basically across the street with an Acme which is a big grocery store which had good hours.

But now the cons:

1. The front of the complex is beautiful. Nice landscaped and very clean. However when you go through the complex to the back (which is where they placed me) the "niceness" goes down. There where dog dropping frequently in the walk way. Also a major problem was the walkways during a5 foot snow storm. While the front of the property near the management office was snow-free, in the back was iced over. You couldn't even get in the parking lot without sliding. Now what if you want to walk through' Good luck if you don't want to fall. A major walkway through the complex belongs to the city and Korman will not remove anything from it therefore the snow and ice will stay there until it melts. I went back and forth with the city and Korman to get it straight but it never was.

2. Utilities are sky high. Due to the old plumbing in the complex your utilities bills will stay high. I spoke to the utilities company and they said it was normal for that complex and everyone complained.

3. BUGS!!!! The first month I was in the apartment there were cockroaches that scared the hell out of me. Maintenance made it seem like I brought them there with me and it wasn't until speaking with the exterminator (who had been there every week for a month) when I was advised that the people who lived downstairs had a leak and water heat = moisture = ROACHES!!

Well that is my opinion. Personally while I liked some of things about the place I would rather spend that kind of money on paying a mortgage or even renting a house. They raise the rent yearly but do nothing about fixing the problems. I guess because they are such a big complex they don't really care about individual tenants.

Overall, I would say look around or get an apartment in the front courtyard because those are the only apartments that they really care about because they are the first ones you see when you enter the complex.
