I read what people wrote about the building management and have to agree. They are the worst thing about the building. That, and the fact that the whole building is hooked up to Viking cable for TV and as someone mentioned, they do not offer HD.
Other than that, I have loved living in the Left Bank. The apartments are HUGE with 20ft walls. There are big windows so you get tons of natural lighting. There is a washer/dryer in every unit, as well as a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, etc.
The maintenance crew is excellent - very responsive and friendly. The front doormen always have a smile on their face and greet you by name, while accepting all your packages and making sure you are safe inside your apartment. If you have visitors, they call up to your apartment before letting them in but I do not feel that this is "giving them the third degree" as someone else mentioned, but ensuring that the other residents are safe.
There is a nice gym with locker room and with optional personal trainer. There is a free DVD library as well as conference/study rooms on the first floor of the building that you can reserve with free wireless internet.
The only tip I would give someone looking to live here is to try and split rent. Either live in a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom with a roommate or share a spacious (900 square feet) one bedroom with your significant other. For the level of luxury you live in at the Left Bank, you will not find another building with much cheaper rent in the area.
Not a single person who has come to visit me in three years has left without saying how much they loved my apartment and how they would like to live there.
