Very noisy, low privacy, high crime

The number one problem with this place is that the construction is so poor and cheap that you can literally hear every thing that happens in your neighbors' apartments. I heard when my neighbor got the phone call his mother died, I heard him having phone sex, regular sex, and talking about his genitals. I mean, people do a lot of private stuff that you would never do if you knew your neighbors could hear.

Problem number two is crime. Residents have had their cars broken into and mail boxes broken into. Someone even broke into the change machine in the laundry room to steal the quarters. There was a problem with identity theft a number a years ago. A girl was raped right across the street. A few years ago there were also a number of robberies at gun point in the area. There are security cameras, but they don't deter all the criminals in this neighborhood. While the area east of Liberties Lofts is gentrifying, the area directly next to Liberties Lofts on the west is public housing with lots of drug traffic.

The management has told me that some of the people who've committed some of the crime likely live in the building. Since they have keys to the doors, I felt very insecure. As a young woman coming home at night I felt very unsafe. Maintenance staff also came into my apartment unannounced, and I happened to be in the shower at the time.

The management is unresponsive to the noise problems, and the condition of the building and hall ways deteriorated since I moved in. For $120 parking is available in a lot with a mechanized gate. The parking area is fenced in but not very secure.

The positives of these apartments are the following:
They have huge windows and lots of light. The ceilings are huge, like 14 feet, and they have a very industrial feel with exposed brick, concrete floors, tile in kitchen and bathroom, and stainless steel appliances. Air conditioning units have trouble keeping the apartments cool in the summer, and the duct work is exposed and poorly installed so it makes a constant rattling noise whenever the heat or a/c is on.
