Pretty, but expensive and not really safe

I just moved to this complex in June 2006. I am a student at a local medical school, and I was initially quite drawn to the complex. The reviewer before me above stated things pretty accurately. It is hard to find parking after 9 pm. The security guards are nice to girls, but my male neighbor felt extremely insulted by them.
It's quite expensive, and the pet rents are ridiculous. I can understand charging a lot for a 70 lb dog, but a housecat is hardly any strain on the utilities (they don't leave their droppings outside, etc.)
I haven't had any trouble with maintenance, but the heating is inefficient if you don't put towels or insulation of some sort around the windows.
Overall, the landscaping is beautiful, and they are installing a new security gate, but I don't really feel safe here as a single female. Maybe things will get better with new management, but I, too, have my doubts.
I will probably still remain in this complex, but I often question whether it would be worthwhile to move.
