Overall it's not that bad of a place to live as long as you realize that it's an apartment. You have to remind maintaince to come fix things because of the lady you leave the message with not the maintaince workers. We have lived here for 3 years and the still have to replace our window. There have been a few break-ins, bikes missing and the one incident that was on the news. They do weird inspections about once a year and give you like 2 days notice. I'm not sure if the inspections are normal for Philadelphia but they do things like check for mold. They really need to check the air ducts. I have never had an apartment that was so dusty even though I dust every week. We buy special air filters that are supposed to last for 3 months and they barely last 1 month. Our heat doesn't work right, it trips the circuit breaker and when we asked them about it they said it was something strange and didn't fix it. They don't really bother you too much. The most noise you hear from neighbors are when they run up the stairs outside. Be careful where you get an apartment. We are in the back along the fairmont park side and we hardly get any sunlight (maybe 2 hours) and we get a lot of mosquitos. Parking is only an issue if you come home late at night, like after the bars close. I'm a young female and I feel pretty safe there, I obviously don't leave my door unlocked or leave the patio door open if I'm not in the room but it's pretty safe. The layout is nice. The quality is that of an apartment, they pain over things instead of fixing it, but that's pretty typical. Some of the front office staff is very nice so are not very professional. The biggest complaint is that of the price. We pay a lot for rent and have one of the smallest one bedroom apartments. They aren't comparable.
