Recently there was a review posted commenting on a dog who was tragically killed in our building. The comment noted, "perhaps you should look elsewhere..."
As a WITNESS to this episode, the woman who was trapped on the elevator was carelessly chattering away on her cellphone while leading her dog and didn't even realize that her leash/dog was caught in the elevator doors behind her because she was too engaged in her phone conversation...this personal negligence should not be the reflection of this terrific apartment complex.
If anything, the woman owes an apology to her poor dog who was the tragic victim of her negligence.
The management is EXTREMELY responsive esp. with maintenance issues. E.g.leaky washer was replaced with NEW washer in several days.
Terrific environment to have dog, extremely close to well visited dog park in Schulykill River Park.
The area is terrific and great for the UPENN hospital center.
Downsides include next to railroad tracks which can be bothersome if your apt is along the tracks.
Overall, an outstanding place to live with very responsive mgmt. Don't let the carelessness of one pet owner represent the great pet atmosphere of this bldg.

WRONG. I find it interesting that you were a WITNESS, since I am the woman who was in the accident. Not only was I ALONE with my dog when the accident happened, but I was also trapped in the elevator for 45min. between floors until the police and fire departments were able to break in. To suggest that I am at fault for an elevator that had a long history of malfunctions and resulted in a tragic death is disgusting. And if, indeed, you WERE a witness to the accident -- that would imply that you stood by and did nothing as you watched me frantically struggle to escape from the broken elevator doors (as my wonderful dog was able to do, though his quick instincts separated the two of us and lead to his death). THAT is even more deplorable. And you're right -- I did use my cellphone in the elevator...to call everyone I knew for help as I sobbed hysterically on the elevator floor and stayed as far away as I could from the broken doors and open elevator shaft in front of me. Whoever you are, "anonymous," you are welcome to contact me to discuss your story's inaccuracies -- my family, friends, the tenants in the building with whom I'm still in touch and I would all love to know who you are.

who are you, mystery "witness" and how did you stand by while this happened and not try to save the dog before he was killed, or the girl trapped in the elevator? i remember seeing chairs in the lobby and stuff. heaven help anyone callous enough to not only stand by and watch this tragedy, but arrogant enough to see themselves as an expert "witness" to comment on it. do you work for locust point, or owe them a favor or something? it's both irresponsible and inconscionable to make inflammatory and completely baseless statements on a public website. you are creating and distributing misinformation, shame on you. in the interest of honesty, i would like to correct the rest of your review: the elevator in that building was never fixed prior to the "accident". there were innumerable repair requests logged and no repair until (late at night, surprise!) immediately after the dog was killed. every time i had been in the building (I attended UPenn and lived in the neighborhood) to visit friends the elevator never worked properly. certainly, there was NO SIGN saying we should be carrying our dogs to keep them safe, as visitors or residents. after this "accident" there were letters handed out telling people to the only reason i took it at all was to avoid my old dog having to either be awkwardly carried, or walk up many flights of stairs. every time anyone complained they were always "working on it". i wound up meeting people in the lobby instead because the elevator made me nervous. it must have been terrible to have to live there and use it. the washing machines broke, the parking garage was unsafe, the complaints made by residents were never unique to one person. the neighboring dog park is not much of a park. when i lived in philadelphia even in relatively low-income neighborhoods we had grass and not dirt in the dog park. whoever wrote this stellar review of locust point, please don't remain anonymous, you purport to know things we don't so by all means tell us who you are so we might learn from your reported experiences. |
