It is what it is

This is my only apartment experience in Philadelphia, and it was fine. There were a few pros and cons that average out to being an OK place to live. For example...pro: indoor pool. Con: It wasn't filled for months, yet you're still paying for it in rent. Pro: nice gym. Con: It isn't really maintained, so some of the machines are broken and there are never those wipes to clean the machines! Pro: Location near the subway. Con: Once it gets dark, don't take the subway.
Here's why we left:
The building was fine for the two years we lived there, but it's cheaply constructed and starting to show some wear. The rents were all raised, yet every other managed building in Philadelphia is offering ridiculously great incentives to move. The location is also a little remote if you want to walk anywhere, especially at night. I liked living there, but I won't pay 1200 a month to live in a 600 sq foot studio.
Also, as for the parking...I got rid of my car. I had a garage spot, but more than once the only spots available were either too small for anything larger than a Mini Cooper (my sedan really wasn't that much bigger) or there were just no spots period.
