Extremely Noisy But Nice . . .

Very nice building --- a historic renovation with new kitchens/baths and reinforced windows. The location is absolutely perfect, no place better. But now the negatives: very very noisy (a lot of it is from the slamming doors within the building --- there is no weatherstripping at all on the doors and they just slam shut --- with all the thought given to the amenities here, why not put up $5 worth of weatherstripping to buffer the sound'' --- and there is a lot of construction in the area so a lot of construction noise); the ambience is a bit more grad student than I had expected (these are expensive units and I know I could not have afforded this rent in grad school --- nothing against students but there are a lot of loud parties on the weekends); the interior of the units is noisy --- there are exposed pipes and ductwork (cool looking) and when the heat or A/C kicks on, it sounds like a train and you can hear any running water in the pipes --- I guess that's what ceilings are for -- to buffer the sound. Staff is okay, reasonably attentive. Absolutely no parking in the area though they are building a garage out back right now (did I mention that it is very noisy!) and that will hopefully help. Putting a car in the lot next door will run you $24 a day.
I think I like it here but the noise level will drive me out after my lease is up.
