Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009
I have lived at Park Place one for about one year. Overall it is a great apartment if you can afford it. |I have a one bedroom on the second floor and it costs $900 a month. This is a lot but it is worth when you compare this place to others in the area.
Pro s: First the apartments are very large. Big bedroom with tons of closet space. The closets in the bedroom are like small rooms. Kitchen and bathroom are also fairly large. Kitchen has decent counter and cabinet space if you like to cook. Balcony is also a nice size 4*15(rough estimate). There is also a washer/dryer in each apartment.
Neighbors tend to keep to themselves but are friendly. Many are elderly so the complex is very quiet and safe. Parking is off street and is never a problem. Plus you are right next to the park. Building seems to be nicely maintained, I never had any bug/mice problems or structural problems (leaks, drafts, plumbing, smells etc.)
The apartments have central air and heat. In the summer for some unknown reason there was always a nice breeze coming into our bedroom window so the apartment stayed cool without the central air even being on. Big Plus! Very low utility bills. Finally, I had very little contact with the office people, but when I have needed something they have been friendly and usually helpful. One more thing, the stairs and doorways are wide so it is pretty easy to move furniture in and out of the building.
Cons: No big problems. The lease terms are a little ridiculous, they want you to have the carpet professionally cleaned before you leave, and you feel like you are signing your life away when you read the lease agreement. The pool is only open 3 months out of the year so don t get to excited about it. But it is maintained nicely. When we moved in, the apartment was still dirty from the previous tenant. It looked like someone had done a half ass cleaning job, It took a full day for us to scrub everything to our own standards of clean. Only had to call for maintenance once so far to fix the stopper in our tub. Took two weeks to get to us, but it wasn t a major issue so they may have done other people before us. (on a side note the maintenance man will knock and then just come right in without waiting for you to answer which could lead to an awkward situation, but he seems like an okay guy, fixes the problem and leaves with no messing around) Appliances are old, but worked fine. Washer and dryer worked well but are small so you are always doing laundry, but that s better than going to a laundry mat.
Conclusion: I definitely recommend Park Place One. I have looked at other places that want $750 to $850 for a place that is way worse then here. So if you can afford to spend a little more do it.
