12 break-ins within 4 months

If you value your belongings and safety, then DO NOT give a dime to this company. They knowingly covered up several break-ins/robberies even though they advertise on craigslist stating "The 24 hour concierge makes it one of the safest buildings in the neighborhood." All of the break-ins happened during the day shift and detectives called to each apartment stated that the apartment doors showed no sign of forced entry. After the first incident, I can understand Management (Karen) not wanting to alarm tenants but after the second, third, forth, fifth...nothing was done. We leared of the other break-ins after we became victims. It was unsettling to know that someone timed when we would be out of the apartment. Coincidentally, the break-ins happened primarily to newer tenants. One tenant was offered a new apartment at a different site but what about the rest of us. Philadelphia Management still has not issued an apology or contacted any of the residents who became victims. If you move into this building, you are taking a chance at having your belongings stolen and your privacy violated. Again, detectives claim all have been an inside job to mean that someone would have to use a key to access the apartments. A suggestion was made to install cameras at the front desk and on each floor just outside the elevator at a cost of around $200 per camera. Managment declined. For an aparmtent building that has approximately 200 apartments at an average rent of $1000 per unit, $1,000 worth of videor equipment is a drop in the bucket. But,again, they do not care about anyone's safety. What is going to happen when a tenant walks in on the criminal as they are robbing the apartment' Aside from the robberies, there are mice and the roaches range from 2-3"...they are H-U-G-E. Some people have posted complaints about the water being shut off but that's the least of a tenants worries. It seems as if once you are in, the helpfulness from Karen that was present prior to signing the lease quickly disappears. If you need work done, good luck getting a response. Karen will flat out lie to you about work that was promised prior to you moving in. The simplest of tasks will get done like the exterminator coming every Friday but for anything else, you will wait and wait and wait. Yet, she had her entire apartment gutted and fashioned with new carpet, flooring, kitchen cabinets and bathroom in under two weeks. Amazing disregard for the people who pay her salary. In the last few months they were desperate to rent to anyone because many tenants moved out which has resulted in more noise incidents in hallways and apartments. A few weeks ago two men were caught in the stairwell "satisfying" eachother. Parkway House is far from being the premier residence it wants prospective tenants to believe. It's really sad becuase if they had a competent Property Manager who could handle the safety and work issues, then Philadelphia Management would get better ratings. But, they don't care who is running the office just as long as rent checks continue to come in. Congratulations to Philadelphia Management for running a terrific rental campaign filled with promises they won't keep. It's only a matter of time before the next new tenant gets robbed. Don't expect Management to care or to acknowledge your loss. Lastly, the overexuberant and ridiculously positive statements added to this website were written by Philadelphia Management in an attempt to look good. Please don't fall for this tactic. It's insulting. The only good thing about Parkway House is the nighttime security guard, Gladis. On her watch, no one was robbed and when there is a disturbance, she actually gets up and investigates. They are lucky to have her. If she were to be the Property Manager, I bet things would get done for a change. It's a shame because I was really excited to move into the Parkway House but with an inept Property Manager and the main office not caring for its tenants, the Parkway House is not a safe or pleasant place to live. I had planned on staying here but after experiencing many of the things previous and current tenants have complained about, I won't be staying. It's a shame because I believed all the propoganda put out by Philadelphia Management Company. They are not an ethical company.

Lived here for a year and have had nothing but positive experiences with the management and staff. You must really hate everyone to write such a mean spirited, spiteful long winded review.

I've been living here for over a year and agree on some of the problems (e.g the water going off). I have also had one roach and a few mice which have since disappeared. I hope that they catch whoever has been doing these robberies, and they really should install cameras. Overall, though, I have really not had that bad of an experience and am happy with my apartment. I wonder why they don't implement some sort of key-scanning device (such as swiping a card) to enter the building though? I had that at my last building and it seems to be the only way of preventing others from entering the building who don't live there. It would also lessen the load on the guards having to always open the door (which, when they are not looking can be a hassle for the tenants).

I am a tenant and have had a few problems with management but I'll keep those to myself. But...I'm bothered by the comments from the person dated 8/10/2009. You seem to be the mean person. How could you respond like that to someone who was robbed in his/her home? I didn't think the person writing the main comment was mean...sounds more like they were hurt by the crime and the subsequent problems with management that followed. Show some compassion while being grateful that it wasn't you who was victimized:)
