Stay away from this rodent-infested, overheated, old building.

A short list of notable occurances to sum up our experience at the Ambassador:
1) In this middle of the summer the electricity went out one full day and then later had to be turned out for two additional days in order to repair whatever went wrong the first time. Above all, this meant no elevator (we live on the 18th floor) and no airconditioning in Philadelphia's lovely summer heat. This is especially important to note due to the large number of elderly and disabled residents that live in the building.
2) They have turned the water off in our apartment for THREE full days in order to repair some sort of problem with the pipes. Imagine waking up and not only not being able to shower but also to not brush your teeth before going to work or school, or use the toilet. In all fairness they did let us know on each of these occassions that they would be turning it off (usually the day before), but living without indoor plumbing is nearly as difficult as living without electricity.
3) Our particular apartment (sadly, I can't speak for any other units) is usually between 82 and 90 degrees during the 8 months out of the year when they turn the heater on, even with the windows open and the airconditioner running all the time. They tell us that this is because we are on the top floor and that this can't be prevented. However, on cold winter mornings, windows on the eighth through the eighteenth floors are open, leading us to believe that they are simply neglegent in monitoring the building's temperature. Reagardless, the heat is nearly unbearable.
4) Today a lovely little mouse walked across our kitchen floor. A MOUSE! I have never seen one before, outside of a petshop, and did not expect to see this little guy walking across my CLEAN floor. I never thought I'd see the day when I would actually have to buy a mouse trap for my own apartment.
I hope this information helps in your apartment search. bYr9ljUwtCbMRXE8dRDC
