What started out to seem like a nice place to live, slowly turned into a nightmare.
When you apply to live there, the ladies in the office (Who by the way aren't the friendliest, but the lady Sharon is very nice) They give you the third degree on how they do everything by the book and you have to be checked out, and they make you feel as if you will be renting next to the Taj MAjal.
Then you move in and in winter discover that the insulation is non-existent. The Windows might as well be off because all they do is allow cold air to enter. And then your first gas bill comes. Average bill was $300.00 per month. Robin told me that the carpeting gets changed every 10 years, so I had spills and stains that wouldn't come out. In summer , the electric bill counters your low gas bill with a high of $250.00 because of the air-conditioning . Or you could just live without it and roast. They tell you that the water bill is left in Jamison rd.'s name because it is easier that way. After moving out I discovered that the bill for the other 3 units and yours are all attached to the same bill. So, I not only payed water service for myself, but also for the husband, wife and 2 kids that lived next door. What should have been a monthly bill of almost nothing, cost me on an average $52.00 per month.
On moving in day, you must sign the lease before you get to see the unit. They tell you this at the last minute when you have your moving truck outside waiting to empty contents into your new townhouse. Otherwise, I would have never taken the place the way I had found it on day one. After moving out, I advise that you take photos and keep receipts of carpet cleaning and cleaning services. Robin doesn't seem to like to give back deposit money so she does whatever she can to keep at least half of it.
Also: I forgot to mention the problem with Russian and Eastern Europeans. It seem that they think the streets of Scotchbrook to be those of the German Autobahn. They drive up and down the streets at speeds of 65-70 and they have really loud, noisy cars and they throw garbage onto the streets sometimes. Some of them are very nice, but you can clearly see which ones are from a lower class. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN, KEEP THEM AWAY FROM THE SIDEWALK. IT'S MUCH TOO DANGEROUS!!!!
Other than that, I must say that my neighbors were very quiet, I hardly saw them and when I did they were quite friendly.
Think twice and check out the seen before moving there. Also, be prepared to have your rent go up about 30 dollars every year.

That is a very accurate review. I agree with everything written. There are definitely perks (lots of space, parking spot, garage, good layout, cute complex, convenient location), but all the negatives that you mentioned are entirely accurate.

I agree and disagree with the posts. I have lived in Scotchbrook for almost two years. I must say that Sharon and Robin have been a delight to work with since I moved in. I do agree with the first post that I did not get a chance to see the exact townhouse that I was moving in but I was given the address in advance. I saw the office demo first and had no problem with that because I trust Sharon. I must be special because I received EVERYTHING new - carpet throughout the entire house, two very nice chandeliers, new stove, microwave, refrigerator and new cabinets. I am paying $1015. Guess it depends on who your landlord because I think that there are different landlords under Jamison Road Associates and each townhouse has individual owners. I live alone so the bills are not as high as you are stating. Winter gas runs me around $160-175 (living room is sometimes chilly but upstairs is really warm with heat on 70). My water bill is between $27-32/monthly, central air was about $120 during the summer. Dont care too much for cold air and use windmere fans most of the time. I love my place and feel really safe there. The previous owner had an alarm and automatic garage so I am benefitting from that. I do agree that there are a lot of Russians living in Scotchbrook. I can live around any race as long as you dont bother me and keep the community clean because Scotchbrook is not cheap. I am not sure if the speeders and loud music players are the Russians but Jamison Road is like an expressway. Dont let your kids play in the streets. I almost got hit one day so I know what you are talking about. Thanks for the heads up for when I move out. I will definitely keep the carpet cleaning receipts and take pics. All three of my neighbors are extremely nice and we always help each other out during the winter storms. There aren't that many really nice places to rent in Philadelphia, and I feel that Scotchbrook is one of the nicer places after looking at over 32 complexes in Philly.
