the truth about st ives From: -Anonymous- Date posted: 8/20/2006 Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006   as a current tenant of st ives i will tell you how it really is.. st ives is a good place to live as long as you don't mind a place that is a mixture of races,old & young,loud & quiet,clean and dirty people.it's far from ideal but it's an apartment complex they can't discriminate against the loud and dirty.i never had a maitenance issue that didn't get resloved so i don't know what the other people that were here are talking about.one opinion said that they had to wait 2 years for a new window screen.i don't know if i believe that because i know the maitenance guys they will do whatever you need for you.the old management co. brandywine was pretty bad though they didn't put any money into this place recently because they decided to sell it 4 years ago.i would suggest to you that you definitly not rent from them.the new owners seem as if they're trying to turn around the neglect this place has suffered so i think it will get better here. however,some problems here that still remain are mostly cosmetic.people track dirt into the stairways so the rugs get dirty,the building entrances need to be repainted because they been beat down by the weather,and some pressure washing on the bricks and concrete in some areas. inside the apartments are ok except the appliances are getting older and should be replaced but i see maitenance often with new stuff in their truck so they must be doing it.my ac unit broke a couple months ago but the guy came that day and fixed it. he said they're old and should be replaced but most of them still work fine. ok now about the people,there is no sense of community here most people walk around as if they don't even see each other and there are some bad apples but not many.overall i think that if you get into a good building with quiet tenants you should be ok. i like it here even though it has it's problems i think some other opinions posted are just blown out of proportion.i never been shot at,robbed by maitenance or had the ceiling fall on my head so i don't know maybe their expierence was different than mine.that is about it if i think of anything else to add i will do so.
