Moved into my apartment last July because superficially the apartments looked great - One wall is full windows and the apartments are huge. But don't be fooled!! The windows are OLD and there is no noise reduction. The worst problem is the new Comcast building being constructed across the street. They start work at 6am usually 6-7 days a week and don't stop sometimes until well into the night. Several times I have called City Wall to ask if the construction company had permits to be working at 3am on a Sunday morning - City Hall does NOT CARE that construction is disturbing the peace!! The beautiful wall of windows has no noise reduction!! The noise makes the apartment horrendous to live and sleep in, especially if you opt to live on the side off the street which you'd think would be quieter.
Management says they have new windows coming, but they told me that when I moved in and my lease is almost up but still no new windows in sight...they did put up horrible scaffolding in Nov for the windows but they haven't come so now we have to look at that too. Don't be fooled!!! The windows have not even come despite scaffolding and when they ever do come they will start on the 29th floor and it will take 2weeks per floor to put them in...therefore depending on what floor you get you could spent half your lease waiting and living in misery listening to a crane and jack-hammering at 6am EVERY DAY!
DON'T live here!! The staff is horrible - it took me months to get a set of blinds replaced that broke. I couldn't open them and my bedroom was dark for MONTHS. It took 5 phone calls to management and the blinds they replaced them with are about to break also.
The front desk staff is lazy and they don't handle packages well, I almost got a few lost...I have had to bring the staff the tracking slip and show them that the package was signed for because they have a tendency to lose track of where packages went and don't log them well.
I live in the middle of the building and I have seen cockroaches in the apartment. A company sprays every Tues/Thurs so you can have them come in as many times a month that you want which is nice but you must keep on top of it. I have them come 1-2x a month now and haven't seen any cockroaches.
There is a parking garage but they do not take care of the car. A month into moving there my car developed three scratches and it was almost a court battle to get the company to acknowledge it and repair it. For 240$ a month they better treat my car with respect. They do NOT take care of your car so look elsewhere for a garage, not the one below the building. The Sterling takes no responsibility for the lack of care of the garage.
Comcast was in the building every month for 5 months trying to get the internet and cable working appropriately for me. Comcast wired the whole building but did a crappy job. Again management takes no responsibility for the cross-wiring in the building and say it is all Comcast and not them. Everytime Comcast is there working on other apartments on your floor expect a problem and a service call to fix their mistake.
Overall - please please don't make the mistake I did. The construction site is horrible and you can hear everything. Construction is expected on the building until well into 2008 so stear clear. There are other places to live and although the apartments overall are very comfortable, the Comast building construction is not controlled by the city so they work all hours of the day and night, and management has done nothing to confront the construction company and help us live in quiet or at least to get them to work normal 9-5 mon-fri construction hours -
DON'T LIVE HERE!!!!
