Yo!

Has seen better days

Summit Park was once a great place to live. Reasonable rent, friendly neighbors, plenty of activities and amenities, close to shopping, bars, public transit and major highways. But the complex has seen better days.

Parking used to be fine. Occasionally you had to park a block or two away if you came home very late. Now, good luck after 7 - 8 pm. They decreased the number of usable spots while the number of residents have increased. Management refuses to do anything substantial about it. They have wasted everyone's time by issuing worthless "permits" which now state to the world where you live. The policy is rarely enforced. Even if they did, there are still not enough spots!

The rental office staff is friendly and attempt to be helpful, but are worthless unless all you need is a filter or light bulb. They are not properly trained nor authorized make any decisions and the turnover rate should say something about management. They feel as if they have the right to enter your apartment without notice. I have not experienced this before I lived here unless it was an emergency. Management has no regard for your privacy or safety. If you do decide to move in, change your top lock and don't tell them.

The only choice for cable and high speed internet is Hotwire which is owned by the greedy landlord. These people are horrible!! They have no clue and actually YELL at residents. We have a limited selection which has not been upgraded in 3 yrs. We finally got SportsNet after we spent 2 years complaining and the reception is not that great. The "high speed" internet is unreliable.

The maintenance crew is great. They are pleasant, hard-working and quickly respond to requests. But because management refuses to put our rent money into quality capital improvements, repairs are usually band-aids until something actually breaks. The lawns could use some grass, laundry rooms & basements are dirty. The buildings are 30 yrs old and show it.

They have made some improvements at the clubhouse. The new managers run a variety of events to try to please most tenants and they have expanded their kitchen menu. A far cry from the fraternity house scene they had going last year! They finally hired a responsible person to run the pool.

Overall, Summit Park is a decent place to live if you can deal with this. Rent increases every year while the quality of services decreases. Included utilities are great, but you have little options should there be a warm day in early May or late October when the system is off. Unfortunately, the frustrations experienced outweigh the good times and nice neighbors and I hope to leave soon.
