Think twice

University Crossings is the worst apartment building I have ever lived in, primarily because of the tenants although mgmt and security are also very bad.
My next door neighbor liked to play his bedroom stereo loud enough to hear it while he was showering. Loud enough to rattle glasses in my kitchen. All the time. My subletter over the summer almost had a breakdown dealing with him. One time when I asked him to turn down his music he told his guest to kill me. I guess I should feel complimented that the guest felt he needed to get his friends to "kick the ---- out of me."
Beyond the noise, there is frequent vandalism - holes punched in walls, lights broken, urine in every public space.
There are also huge safety problems. Several times while I was there someone tried to open my locked door. One time they started to use a credit card to slip the lock. When I chased that couple away, management would not even bother to look at the security tape to see who they were. Everyone I knew in the building was the victim of at least one robbery attempt. One of my friends was almost killed by some idiot throwing beer bottles at him from the 13th floor. Security naturally failed to catch anyone. The high point was when security itself actually stole a birthday gift from my mother (although to be fair management did provide a refund).
My other favorite moment was when a bunch of drunk students starting smashing beer bottles against my window. When we called security, security insisted that my apartment number did not exist. A second call prompted a promise to come. A third call got the guy to come - and what did he do - he asked the people to stop throwing bottles at our windows. Then he just left.
Finally, there is the management. Melissa seems like a nice person, but in the end she will always promise and never _ever_ deliver.
I know most reviews of most apartments are overly critical. At this place though its not some bad things, its everything that's horribly horribly wrong.
