Crossings is under new management now.

The one thing that I hate about the building is the elevators. The express ones are slow, and the other ones break a lot, and it takes forever for the elevator to come during the time right before and right after classes. On all of the floors (except the Main floor and the 10th floor), the last 6 elevators are not used. Why' We don't know. They should definitely consider finishing all of the floors like the 10th floor, even if they don't put those elevators into service, just because it looks nicer and it opens the possibility of putting in elevators, plus it's nice to have a little sunlight. (it would also make a great meeting area.) Oh, and only the express elevators go to the 16th and 17th floors.

Maintenance is slow but they get the job done.

Extremely convenient for Drexel students.

The rooms are usually nice, and if you are lucky, you might get a room that has a GREAT view of the surrounding area.

One other problem: Recently we had a power outage. There is no emergency lighting (yet), luckily it was during the day and the side emergency staircases have windows (the central does not).

The following info is from the Drexel Residential Living website, and helps to describe what University Crossings offers. I also edited it, as some of it is info for Drexel students.

Building Information

Use the following as your address:
Your Name
Apt. #
3175 John F Kennedy Blvd
Philadelphia, PA 19104

It is important that your apartment number is listed on all mail you receive. If your apartment number is not listed it is possible that the mail will be forwarded back to the sender.

Front Desk
The front desk is staffed 24 hours, 7 days a week with security personnel from a private company hired by College Park Communities. Their main responsibilities are to monitor access into the building, answer questions and assist residents with maintenance concerns. The front desk attendants work 3 main shifts which are:
8am 4pm
4 pm 12 midnight
12 midnight 8 am

Card Access System
The Card Access system is set up so that you, as the resident, are responsible for helping to make the building safe. At check-in each resident is given an access card that they should use to pass through by the front desk.

Trash Rooms
There are two trash rooms located on each floor right next to the laundry rooms. Please break down all boxes and stack them neatly in the trash room. Make sure all bags are secured.

Mailboxes
The mailboxes are located on the main level directly around the corner from the front desk. Each apartment has been issued one mailbox key. As an apartment it is up to you, the residents, to decide how to facilitate getting your mail. You have many options including making additional keys, leaving the key in a location that everyone has access to in the apartment or sharing the responsibility for retrieving mail.

Laundry Facilities
There are two laundry rooms located on each floor. Both are equipped with 2 washers and 2 dryers that are operated by a laundry card. Each resident is responsible for purchasing their own laundry card. There is a machine to purchase cards near the mailboxes. If you experience problems with or lose your laundry card, please contact the laundry company directly at 1-800-232-9274.
[Extra info: $1.65 for washer, $1.65 for drier]

Security Cameras
Each floor of the building is equipped with security cameras. They are monitored 24 hours a day by the front desk security personnel. The installation of these cameras is an added measure used to make the building as safe of an environment to reside in as possible.

Fire Safety
Each floor is equipped with two fire extinguishers and fire alarm pull stations. All apartments are equipped with smoke detectors and sprinklers. When a resident hears that the fire alarm has been activated they should evacuate the premises immediately. All residents should proceed down the stairs and gather across the street from the building to await further instruction.

Floor Balconies\Roof
Each floor has two balconies which serve as emergency fire exits. Please note that it is unacceptable for residents to utilize these balconies for anything other than an emergency fire exit. This includes, but is not limited to hanging out, smoking, standing or sitting and throwing items from this balcony. Residents found on the balconies will be documented by the University Crossings staff and/or College Park Staff.

Parking Information
Residents in need of parking can take advantage of an agreement made between University Crossings and Five Star Parking. Residents can pick up a parking application from the University Crossings Front Desk. Once completed, residents should return their completed form to Five Star Parking to receive the $150/ per month rate being offered. Residents may also contact the Drexel Parking Office located in the General Services Building on 34th and Market Streets to apply for the waiting list for available Drexel parking lots.

Gym
The building has a gym open for all residents of the building to use. The gym is located in the center of the 4th floor. It houses cardio machines, free weights and a variety of strength training equipment. The gym is accessible through scanning your access card to obtain entrance and exit. In addition, residents can watch TV, play pool or enjoy a cold beverage from the vending machines.

True that only 2 (of 8 possible) express elevators work. I would also add: -lack of ventilation in hallways makes them stink whenever the trash room door is open -poor lighting in rooms and baths, windows let in lots of light but bedrooms have no ceiling mounted lights
