It isn't as bad as some say, but could be better

I've lived at Upsal Garden for 3 years now and feel I can give an honest evaluation of both the good and the bad.
The grounds are beautiful and there is much care put into keeping the property looking nice. The apartment layouts are great, unique and spacious. All utilities are included and the price is a bargain.
Keep in mind this is an old building dating back to the beginning of the 20th Century and as result you get some of the problems that come from old buildings. You get leaks and drafts. The heating is steam heat. If you take this into consideration, you shouldn't have too much of a problem with this. In terms of maintaince, it is hit and miss and it can be very frustating. Dealing with Cheryl (the manager) seems to be an issue for some and not without merit. She can be difficult, but if you treat her with kindness and bite your tongue, she is easily dealt with. I hate to say you have to kind of kiss her ass, but basically, if you have a problem recognize that she probably has 50 other people bitching and compared to yours, it is quite minor. Choose your battles with her. Griping about the fact that steam heat makes you apartment go from cold to a suana and is inconsistant, isn't something she can fix.
Overall, it is a nice place to live.
