I've lived here for 3 months now and it's an ok one bedroom apartment. Parking can be tight if you come home after 5:30pm but you can always park on Henry Ave. The washer and dryer in the unit is a major plus along with the heat and hot water included in the rent. Pros - It's not far from Manayunk and Center City, and it's not far from supermarkets, banks and other places to shop and eat. Maintenance is pretty quick (had two minor calls already and they were here within a half hour). The apartment was mostly clean when I moved in and the appliances are newer (although I did have to buy a small microwave). Hotwire isn't actually too bad. I heard a lot of bad reviews about them but I have cable for $47/mo with HBO and reliable DSL internet for $34.99/mo. Sometimes you'll lose a channel but overall I'm happy. The customer service is good too. Cons - I think having to pay a pet rent of $25 a month plus a $175 one time pet fee is over the top. If I have to pay $25 a month then the smoker who lives beneath me should have to pay too because the smoke goes right into my kitchen and bathroom. Also, the apartment definitely smells old and it doesn't need to be that way. It would've been nice had they replaced the carpet and painted the walls. The walls are thin and you can hear everything. The windows are old and I happen to have an apartment right on Henry Ave which makes it really loud in my apartment and the traffic wakes me up in the morning. There's a lot of little things that management could do to make this apt more charming like replacing old doors and lighting fixtures but someday (hopefully) I'll be able to buy a house and say goodbye to apartment living!
