We've lived here almost 6 years and the building has had its ups and downs --- there was a mouse problem for a short time a few years ago --- but, for the most part, it has been a wonderful experience. Our apartment is really large --- much larger than most Center City apartments --- with a separate dining room, lovely hardwood floors, and lots of storage. Some apartments have a washer/dryer, but for those that don't, there is a laundry room on the basement level with plenty of machines. The location of the building couldn't be better; it's right at a PATCO stop and two blocks from the subway, as well as being right in the middle of all the action of Center City. Residents are friendly, as are the doormen. The building is pet-friendly and there is no size restriction on dogs. Maintenance has gotten better over the years and we've had no problems. The building has no modern amenities such as a parking garage, a gym, or meeting rooms, but parking is avilable at 3 or 4 garages within a block, and there are at least 3 gyms within a few blocks. Bus service is right outside the front door and a block away on Walnut St. Residents run the gamut between Wharton grad students, professionals, young families with babies, and empty-nesters. If you want charm and don't mind not having high-speed elevators (they are a bit slow), this may be the place for you. We've bought a condo and are moving, and we will miss The Versailles.
