-REVISTING THE ASHTON TOWNHOMES

-I lived here for approx seven years 1981-88. For the money there was a lot of space and I liked having a townhome layout because you had more privacy, and no one was above or below you. Plus it was what I could afford. The kitchens had the original cabinets way back then, they had to be the original ones when it was built.

The mngt installed new windows, a few years later, but all they did but put another single pane window inside the sill behind the leaky windows that were already in there INSTEAD of replacing the whole pice of crap window, and as big as they are the place was VERY drafy on the first floor, PLLUS the location of the heater being right in the living room meant you had to blast the tv to hear above the roar of the blower motor. The rugs were crappy back then, average age 9-10 years old. I had to lay large area rugs overtop of them to avoid looking at the stains that the carpet cleaners could not remove.I asked for newer ones but was told in so many words-NOOOOOOO, The mistake I made waas taking the unit before they were done painting and cleaning the ww carpet.

The front door were old wood ones with gaps all around the sides/top,I think they painted them once, like that really made a differance. I bought my own storm door which helped maybe 10%. The last year I stayed there I had two loud pigs behind me, and a LOUD dog that loved to bark all day because it was alone. Plus if you wanted to use an open lawn area to play touch football or catch with nephews you would up with dog crap all over your sneaks. It wasn't until you move in to a complex you really know what it's like

The LAST straw was a-$60- increase and they installed governors on the thermostat so it would only allow you the heating level Management wanted you to have... the ad for FREE heat was misleading. It's a shame these places were never bought by a DECENT owner because they do offer a lot of room esp with both bedrooms being a decent size and the location is great to the city/suburbs.

ONE BIG CLUE TO WATCH, IF THE COMPLEX IS RENAMED , esp two times in 10 years, as another complex was in the NE it's usually to try and hide the bad reputation of the place.
