Noisy!

I have lived in the building since it opened in 2005. Although the building is nice, the area has gotten progressively worse. I am not a timid person, neither is my boyfriend, but when you feel like you're going to get mugged, attacked by a bum or someone from the gallery...oh, yes, and when you're repeatedly walking into a cloud of weed smoke just outside your apartment, it's time to move. My friends could not believe how terrible the area was when they can to visit me from NY.

Pros:

- apartments are a good size
- construction of the building is good and it's a great-looking building
- appliances are new
- windows are sturdy and provide great insulation
- parking at builing (althought the price shoots up every year)
- nice gym in the building

CONS:

- NOISE...it's so, so bad in so many ways. When I first moved here, the apartment above me had hardwood floors. You can here EVERY footstep of the people living above you. It's not soft footsteps, either. I lost so much sleep in that apartment, I moved to a new one on a high floor and the person in the apt. above me has carpeting...much better...however, this new apartment faces Arch and 9th Streets where all you hear are trucks! Although it doesn't bother my boyfriend because he sleeps like a rock, I am woken up EVERY morning (except Sunday, my one day of rest) like clockwork - first at 4AM - recyling trucks literally right below my window. Then, from 5AM on comes the garbage trucks...they are SO loud...I can feel the vibrations of the trucks though my bed. The truck entrance to the gallery is located directly below the building, so giant trucks are constantly driving by.
- although the apartments are a good size, there is a serious lack of storage space.
- although the gym has good equipment, it gets extremely crowded after work hours. It really doesn't help matters since the workers in the building, their families, and friends also use the gym. Myself and a number of other people complaing about non-tenants using the gym, but managment seriously could care less...which brings me to...
-Management - not great. They seriously do not care about the residents. We had great management until we got new ones about a year ago. My boyfriend and I have had several problems with them. I know several other people have had problems as well.
- Laundry is expensive and you have to usually fight for machines. You are better off getting a washer/dryer, like we did.

Overall, I no longer feel that this buidling is worth the price that they are asking, especially because of the area (Gallery, bus station).

If you are a light sleeper, make sure you do not rent an apt facing north....and if you rent an apt. on the south side of the buidling, make sure you rent on the top floor...that side of the buidling has hardwood floors.

I absolutely agree with everything, except that you forgot to mention one of the biggest CONS: Hotwire.
