Could do worse

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2009
Lessee. Three apartment buildings with courtyards. Trees, bushes, grass and lots of benches. Close enough to the street to hear traffic, but far away to be able to ignore it.
Briefly, it used to be an expensive complex for retired folks. Lots of social activities, trips to Atlantic City, pool parties, social clubs, etc.
But now that population is aging out. While there are still a lot of older people there, it's becoming diverse, with very young families and graduate students and professionals of different races and ethnic backgrounds. However, people are generally still very polite and friendly, even though they tend to keep to themselves now instead of joining the social clubs that used to be at Welshwood. I haven't heard of any rowdy parties or other disturbances, though I see ambulances every so often for the old people and a cop once or twice.
The apartments are fairly big and all have balconies (or patios for floor level units). Each floor has a laundry room (recently renovated and supplied with front load washers that take smart cards) and a storage unit.
Rent generally goes up about ten/fiften dollars a year. A one bedroom is just under $800. There are studio apartments, but very few. Dunno about how much a two bedroom is, but it also has two bathrooms, too.
For the most part, I like the place. The maintenance guys aren't the best, but they do a fairly good job and are friendly. The pool is nice to have in the summer
My two quibbles are that there's no soundproofing, so I can hear TV's and radios and conversations, but a fan and earplugs work for me. I'm pretty sensitive to noise, so others may not be bothered by this. I guess it's all in your comfort level.
The other thing is that there are some very young children around and they can be quite loud and shrill when playing outside.
I do have to say though, not from experience, but from what I've been told from my friends, that there are mice. Some neigbors aren't very tidy, and the complex IS next to the woods, so it's not unexpected.
A caveat. The manager, Flossie, smokes like a chimney. If you have issues with that, her office may be an uncomfortable place to be in.
