Don't walk, RUN

My roommate and I were looking for a place in Phoenixville, and the website for Eland Downe was impressive, so we decided to take a look.

The exterior of the townhouses is tasteful...the grounds are very nice, and all of the homes have a unique look, which provide for a very personalized feel. Unfortunately, that's where the good part ends because assuming that you don't plan to sleep on the sidewalk, be prepared for a nightmare once you walk in the front door. These places are beyond rundown. From the appliances to the carpeting to the thick paint on the doors that don't allow for complete closure, you name it, it's older than dirt. For a good laugh, view the pictures and virtual tour on the property's website, then actually go to the complex and visit the model. The two places couldn't be any different if they were in separate galaxies. Also, you'd think in a townhome you'd get a washer/dryer, but no, just hook-ups down in the dark, musty basement. Which you'd probably kill yourself venturing down to considering the shoddy wooden toothpicks that pass as stairs.

I'm probably coming off like a jerk, but really, it's extremely uncool of the management to misrepresent these places the way that they do. I wasted my time looking at these dives because what I saw on the website seemed similar to what we were looking for...and then the real thing wasn't even close. I'm not suggesting that the manager draw attention to the propery's shortcomings, but perhaps a more honest portrayal of the units might be in order...some people aren't concerned with updated appliances, don't need a ton of space...so you're still going to get the same tenants whether you depict the property honestly or not. Lastly, if you want to keep up the charade, maybe make an attempt to spruce up the model a bit. That place was just a disgrace and I cannot figure out why the management deems it suitable to show to prospective tenants.
