Pros:
Price was great for the size of the townhouse in the area.
Plenty of space.
Very quick and efficient maintenance staff (although some of them are quite scary looking).
Laundry facility or W/D hookups.
Community events: yard sales, landscaping contests, etc..
Relatively clean pool.
5-day flexibility with rent due date. After hours rent drop box.
Not much late night noise.
Age, race, marital status diversity.
Lots (but not too many) kids.
Some apts. back up to wooded areas. (On the contrary, some units back up to other units. The only view you have is of your neighbor's deck)
2 supermarkets are within a mile radius. A third supermarket is less than five miles away.
Cons:
The light switches at the entrance to the townhouse are a logistical nightmare. My wife and I lived there for almost two years and NEVER figured out which one controls what light.
Terrible bug problem in the summer. You could keep your kitchen spotless and there would still be an ant/spider problem.
Trash blows all over the neighborhood. One drive-up compacter/dumpster that is not convenient for all residents. The compactor too small for the community- there are frequent trash bag build-ups. Recycling housed in a different area.
Upkeep on the grounds leaves a little to be desired. Infrequent mowing and less frequent weeding.
Plaster on the corners of the walls is less than adequate. Huge chips are hard to avoid.
Carpet needed to be replaced.
Mini blinds were of poor quality and needed to be replaced.
Deck was in terrible shape. Wood was splitting, bowing, and discolored. Lots of garbage under the decks.
Thin walls.
The cable jack in the living room was in a strange spot, and not convenient to the layout.
Four cable jacks throughout the unit, but there was only one cable splitter. You could only have cable in two rooms at a time.
Hard to negotiate moving trucks through the streets.
Frequent leasing agent changes.
Large penalty for early lease termination.
One guaranteed parking space. Bad if you have two cars and/or inconsiderate neighbors.
Giving out your address. You have to spell both words, and are always asked, "Is that street, road, circle, etc...'" (just a big hassle)
I noticed that the police patrol at night. This could be good or bad depending on your perception, but it always concerns me.

I agree. The landlord are often rude, and repairs are never attended. Garbage are still a problem. Ants are still a problem. Thin walls. Badly management here at eland down. Not recommended.
