Nice place to live.

I lived here for over 3 years, and only moved when I decided to move out of state. It?s a good bargain and a safe enviroment. Phoenixville is close to many places, and important access roads without being in the middle of congestion.
I never had any problems parking nor safety concerns and yet I frequently came home in the middle of the night from my work.
The neighbors are quiet, the children decent and most people keep to themselves, but are friendly when eye-contact is made.
While this is not a luxury complex, it offers great value and is great for those who don't mind living simply. The leasing and office staff have a great rapport among themselves and are extremely helpful and friendly to the residents. It's like living in a small, caring community, but without the gossip.
A bonus - they allow cats, and since most people have cats that live here, any new resident can easily make a new friend and have something in common to talk about.
In regards to the reviewer who wrote that this place is awful, I will offer the following truths:
The appliances are older, so they are likely to use more energy than modern ones, however my electric bill ranged between $25-55/ month depending on the time of year. Summer was the highest since I ran the air conditioner. This was the cost for me living by myself.
All the appliances do work well though. I never had a problem with an appliance that didn't work or was unclean or damaged.
The air conditioner was a wall unit in the living room and would freeze up...but only if I left it on all day. There is an option to place an AC unit in the bedroom, but you must supply this. I never felt the need.
My bathroom was very clean, the tile in excellent condition. The colors, neutral and pleasing (two-tone). The sink vanity (with mirror) was an older-chrome model, probably original to the building, and thus some of the mirror silver was wearing off, but was not a distraction nor an embarassment to guests.
In reference to the place being 'dark', of course it is!....if you don't turn on the lights! There are no overhead light fixtures in the living room or bedroom, however there are overhead lights in the hallway leading to the bedroom, and the kitchen. Plus an overhead light in the hallway leading to the outside (for second floor apartments).
It's great that everyone has their own private entrance and there is tons of closet space.
There isn't much kitchen cabinet/counter space though, but that never was a problem with me since I used cupboard organizers and efficiently stored my food....I had my cupboards packed!
The space beneath the stove (sometimes reserved for the broiler) is actually a storage place for pots and pans and the broiler action works inside the oven.
Regarding transients or 'people going nowhere'. Well, there may be people that come and go, especially if they are just starting a family and decide to move from apartment living to a home, but there are also many that have lived there for numerous years, such as the previous reviewer that made the initial comment. One women has been there about 22 years! I know this from a monthly flyer they distribute announcing/congratulating people on anniversaries, weddings and birthdays.
Regarding the comment that other residents 'are going nowhere'..... that is a value judgement that is irrelevent and innappropriate, and impossible to quantify.
Everyone I ran into was pleasant and well-mannered, regardless of their educational background and ambitions in life.
Finally, regarding the smoking at the leasing office. I know about whom this reviewer was referring. And, I will add that smoking takes place outside, not inside.
