I lived at Independence crossing for two years. The only major complaint I had during that time (and for which I eventually moved out) was the paper thin walls and ceilings/floors. The noise level was hard to live with when you had upstairs neighbors "doing things" at 3 in the morning. The complex's amenities are older, but served their function, exept for the toilet and shower pressure, which were pretty weak. As for safety, the neighborhood was safe and the complex was kept clean. The only unsafe spot was the laundry rooms, which needed to be accessed externally down an unlit stairwell. The rent rate was less than other comperable apartments in the area. Overall, I would recommend it if you don't mind noise levels and weren't looking for a top notch facility.
