If you like to wake up to the sound of maintenance men slamming doors and starting up loud machinery very early each and every morning... If you like cold showers, frequent water and heat shut-offs, faulty electrical wiring, LOTS of bugs, less-than-friendly management, less-than-competent maintenance men, people coming into your home unannounced, paper-thin walls and nosy neighbors, well, this might be the place for you! Oh, and if your computer stereo or home entertainment system consists of anything louder than a personal mp3 player, these people WILL call the cops on you and management will send warning letters - even if it's 7pm on a Friday night!
BTW, the one-year lease dictates that you WILL BE CHARGED to REPAINT the apartment if you don't stay for 2 YEARS (so a one-year lease is really a 2-year lease if you want any security back)! Also, you are not allowed any different wall color than their 'approved' white. You are not allowed to use nails or screws in the walls (no pictures or shelves allowed!).
In times of snow, it is the policy of management that walkways and parking lots WILL NOT be shoveled or plowed until there is a minimum of 3" accumulation. If you're lucky, a maintenance man will parade a little salter around the complex, but it only spits out a little salt at a time and it has never made the walkways usable.
Under no circumstances can you fix your car or have a motorcycle on premises. This is also a very bad area to be a pedestrian; there are no sidewalks from this complex and local drivers tend to ride on the shoulder!
Phoenixville, in general, is a small and charming town with most of the conveniences you'd expect to find in a modern area. There are many festivals and street fairs throughout the year. Commuting to your job can be troublesome as all roads in and out of town are single-lane no-passing zones filled with miles of bumper-to-bumper traffic. There are no taxis within 30 miles of the town, there is no train station, but there are 2 Septa bus routes. The 99 can take you to Norristown and the 139 can take you to King of Prussia Transit Center.
I hope this review helps you make an educated decision that leads you to living in a better place than I found.
