Westridge Sweet Westridge

I've lived here for seven years and have no plans to leave.
The apartments are spacious, and there is plenty of light (even my bathroom has a window)! The floorplans allow for flexibility in furniture placement. There is a windowseat in the bedroom, which my cat loves, and Westridge has done a good job of doing the "little things" that matter. For instance, the doors are paneled, not flat, ugly blocks as you'll find in most other rental complexes. The windows have grids to give the look of small-paned windows, which gives a nice overall appearance to each apartment and the complex as a whole. And the windows are double-paned, which saves big bucks on heating and a/c. Most places won't spend the extra money to make their apartments homey or energy efficient, but NPI (the Westridge owners) will, and it makes a difference.
Each unit here has a private entrance -- nice! The parking cul de sacs limit traffic close to the units, and that makes it safer to back out of your space AND quieter than if every car passed by your window. There seems to have been much thought into the design of Westridge, and it makes living here a pleasure.
The landscaping is beautiful, with mature trees of many different types. The lawns had begun to get ratty in the past year, but I noticed that over the winter NPI filled in the worn patches with fresh soil and grass seed.
Back inside, the apartments are amazingly soundproof. The only noise problems that I have had are when neighbors forget that we share walls and get out of hand, like playing music obnoxiously loud or being rowdy outside late at night. I am happy to say that this has happened only a handful of times in my seven years here, and it was confined to just a couple of neighbors who were hardheaded about cooperating. I am also happy to say that the Val, the property manager, handled the issues discretely, fairly, and professionally.
Which brings me to "Unprofessional," who made negative comments about Westridge management in an earlier review. If you had to be told more than once that your barking dog was annoying your neighbors, then shame on you. If I were one of your neighbors, I would be glad that Val, the Westridge manager, was aggressive in trying to get you to remember that any apartment complex is only as good as its tenants. And speaking of tenants . . .
Most of my neighbors have been terrific. They are or have been friendly and helpful and mindful that they are not the only ones living here. As I mentioned earlier, there have been one or two clunkers over the years, but that's to be expected anywhere.
Maintenance is great. I have gotten quick attention on every call I've made, each issue has been properly addressed, and they were nice enough to come out on the weekend in two different emergencies. Top notch.
I saved the best for last: Valerie Nicholson, the Westridge property manager. I don't know if I would still be here if not for Val. In fact, I started looking around at other places during a period of time when Val was absent from Westridge. Things were not the same without her -- I never got the feeling that her replacements cared about the complex or about my concerns here. But Val is back, and Val IS Westridge; she is the breath and blood that keeps this place alive. She loves Westridge, and it shows. God Bless You, Val, for caring enough to do your job and for doing it oh-so-well.
