Easiest Place to Live - I lived at The Forest Apartments from June 2003 to January 2005. When I first moved in, I had a problem with my thermostat. It was fixed by the time I got home from work that day. It was affordable, the neighbors were great, I felt safe since it's a secured building, and I loved my super quiet basement apartment. ...Full review of The Forest Apartments

5644 Hempstead - I've lived in 5644 Hempstead for the last year and I really enjoy it here. Perfect for one person, but it would be a little tight for a couple (although there is at least one in my building).

Pros of the building:
- quiet, mostly grad students (and not too croweded - only 12 apartments)
- balcony (big enough for a grill and chair)
- newly renovated (all new ...Full review of Hempstead Street Apartments

Great at first, but now I'm not so sure - I've lived here for two years while being a graduate student. The building is close to campus (PITT & CMU), grocery store, banks, and places to eat. I've lived in a one-bedroom very comfortably. The building is quiet both inside and out. All utilities are included except electric which for me never went above $20/month (even with an air-conditioner in the summer). There ...Full review of Aberdeen Apartments

I Can't Belive This Place is University Owned - I lived in College Gardens for the summer and I was very disappointed with the place. From afar, it looks good. The grass is well cut, the outside of the building is well maintained (ex. no mold on the bricks), but that's only until you get to the entrance. The patio to the left had cracks and holes in it; there were also signs of water damage. That's nothing compared to ...Full review of College Garden Apts

I love my apt!! - As a grad student at CMU, I highly recommend living here for your time in Pgh. For one, the place is affordable. It also has a neat lobby and old charm. The serviceman Dave is very helpful as are the rest of the staff that handles the building. The location is close to CMU & Pitt and all of the hospitals. ...Full review of Bayard Manor

Nice place to live but do not recommend living here at this tim - I lived in a one bedroom apt for 2 years. Affordable rent, extremely nice area, friendly neighbors, and no bug problem. It broke my heart not to renew my lease this year. Unfortunately, the new building manager is going through some personal issues and I did not feel safe staying there another year. He is constantly calling up or approaching tenants asking for money to help out ...Full review of Edgewood Court

Overpriced and has gone down hill - This place puts the it in ----. Parking is a pain, they never salt the parking lot and you have to drive up a steep hill just to get to the apartment. That is not a good thing when you live in the snow belt of Pennsylvania. Moving carts are never to be found because the old people keep them in their apartment. Weight room is dirty and pathetic. Washing machines don't even wash ...Full review of Bryn Mawr Apartments

Not too bad - I rented from S2 Properties for a year and only moved so have a larger apartment. Sandy was always very nice. The neighbors were a little strange and liked to complain about everything. The apartments were always super hot in the winter because the neighbors would leave the front door open to get cool air into their apartments, however, the thermostat was in the cold hallway! No wonder ...Full review of Sleepy Hollow Apartments
