I lived in both an efficiency (smaller than studio) and a one bedroom at The Aberdeen.

It was a great alternative to living in South Oakland, and much closer to campus (I was a student at the time) than Shadyside or Squirrel Hill... I could walk to either Pitt or CMU easily, and did.

The efficiency was small, but very livable. The one bedroom was very comfortable.

Both building managers that were there when I was cared about the property, and maintained it relatively well... and they work on site, so if you have a problem they're easy to get in touch with.

Parking can be tough to get (they only issue a fixed number of permits), but street parking is available nearby.

Though some of the residents are students, the ones living here tended to be more considerate than most.

I've recommended this apartment building to a handful of friends, and would definitely do so again.

Things I wish were been better:
The kitchen is small, and I love to cook. It was always manageable, but it would have been nice to have a dishwasher and more space.

Things I'd keep an eye out for:
Dealing with the main office (Union Real Estate owned the property when I lived there) was sometimes a pain. The contact for the building wasn't always around, and, when she was, wasn't the most competent.
That said, most of the time you can talk to the building manager (who's on site) to get things resolved... and I never had a problem there.
