Okay, where do I begin. I lived in a very cute basement apartment, however there are a lot of things that management does not tell you before you sign the lease. Apartment Unlimited has many apartments around the city, I lived in the Baum Blvd apartments. Everything was great for the first few months, then it seemed like once the colder months rolled around.....it turned into the apartment from HELL!!! There were rodents. I saw mice on several occasions. I was furious and refused to share my space with rodents for the duration of my lease. The management acted as if I were crazy because I was so outraged by the rodent problem. I didn't sleep at my apartment most of the time because I was afraid I'd see a mouse...dead or alive(believe me it happened). Other tenants in the building complained as well and they tried to downplay the problem.

There was also the backed up plumbing in the building. Keeping in mind that I lived on the ground floor. There were a few times that someone in an upstairs apartment would flush paper towels down the toilet, not realizing that it completely tears the weak septic system of the building apart. Well, there were times that I would come home to find feces (no, it didn't belong to me.....just everyone else in the building) all over my bathroom floor. Because I lived in the basement everytime someone upstairs flushed, it had to go down....and because the system was blocked it was all over my bathroom. The end result...they had to remodel my whole bathroom, and because I raised hell....they reimbursed me for everything in my bathroom that was messed up from the mess and got money taken off of my rent.

After informing them that I was not going to renew my lease....they started showing the apartment. It got to the point that while they were showing the apartment...I would tell the prospective tenants the problems with the apartments and actually show them all of the mouse/rat poison that was scattered throughout the apartment....Right in front of the property manager. I strongly believe that as tenants...people of the right to know what they're getting into.
