I moved out of my apartment after 2 years of living there with my dog. They tried to charge me to clean the carpet! Who doesn't put new carpet into an apartment after someone lived there for two years with an animal' With the rent I paid there, I would expect to be walking on new carpet!

On the up side, the maintenance staff is knowledgable, friendly, and very skilled.

You honestly think after living in a place for only 2 years, carpets should be replaced if it was brand new when you moved in? If you owned a home, do you replace your carpet every 2 years? I think not. You are lucky they are charging you to clean the carpets rather than for replacement. This sounds like an irresponsible pet owner who is looking for an excuse for letting their pet crap all over the apartment. Having a dog in an apartment, is not really the best situation for the dog. If you work a full time job and you are gone 10 hours a day away from your pet, you are not not providing you pet proper supervision. Dogs need to excercise and run around in a yard. When you bring a pet to the apartment, YOU are taking responsibility for the pets actions. No one told you a pet was required to live where you choose to live. Take some responsibility next time, and you will not have this problem.

Kudos on your response. I'm willing to bet that the obviously uneducated individual feels that maybe you should have just rented a seperate apartment for your dog - nanny included. I lived there for three years, and have put in my own ratings. Nothing has changed. An old neighbor just sent me this page for a laugh at the fact that the management STILL can't get it together. Good Luck. Try Devlins Pointe off Rt. 8 - same deal, just a more congested area.

I think that as a person who is paying a substantial non-refundable pet deposit, a substantial refundable pet deposit, as well as a substantial addition to the base rent that yes, my carpet should be replaced after 2 years. Not even for my sake bc I am gone. But, I do think people who are thinking about moving into an apartment at Bear Run should be aware that it si not policy to switch out carpet after a tenant has lived there for two years with a pet. Furthermore, I would never use the cheap carpet (and I am using the term "carpet" loosley here) they use at Bear Run precisely because of the fact that it has to be replaced so often. As for my pet crapping on the carpet, it never happened. My pet is fully housetrained and has been for years now. As for the health of my pet, which is none of your business but is an illustration of your ignorance as to the situation, my pet was exercised very regularly and enjoyed a very happy existance in the apartment. Dogs and apartments can be compatible with the right owners, and I am one of them.
