This year on Janurary everybody gas bills where shot up (2000%) and if asked they had only one reason, which is because GAS is high but the sad part it "Janurary was hottest month of this year" and till 15th one had used Heating at all.

I would not recommend this apartments if you want the gas bills to be low. They won't do the sealing of French windows so that cold air always comes in easily.

Manager's Response

While we all know January started very mild it did not stay that way. If you consult the National Weather Service, as I did, you will see that the average temperature for the month of January was 32.5 degrees and we experienced days and nights as low as 5 degrees. In February the average temperature dropped down to 20.9 degrees with some days and nights and low as -5. Such changes from December and an increase in the cost factor created quite high heating bills.

I agree that gas bills are too high. Gas bills are too high everywhere, not just at Carriage Park. Mother Nature and the gas companies control these matters not the management or owners of apartment communities.

Agree 100%. The handling of the outrageous gas bills was extremely poor.

The best the office could do was trot out the line "well, January to February is the coldest time of the year". Unfortunately this year, that wasn't the case, but that didn't stop them from trying to push that one on us.

When this excuse wasn't accepted, they moved on to "well, the cost rate went up this month". Fair enough, except that 2 months ago, the cost rate was just as high. It wasn't the cost rate, it was the 5x more usage they reported.

Next time this happens (which will probably be this month again), I suggest that everyone in the office come up with a good cover excuse and stick with it.

Gas companies where caught gauging, they have rein versed the home owners and Carriage Park Apartments. The money never made it to the renters.
