I have lived here for three years and not much has changed from day one. Carriage Park is a big recruiter of immigrants from India, Pakistan and other (which is about 90% of the population here.) Many problems with these families piling in on one or two bedroom apartments in excess of the allowable limits. The streets are a playground for the children and parents with no respect towards vehicles and the landscaping. The worst here is the gas bills. Average costs over three years was about $240 a month during winter months. This includes having a space heater, plastic insulation on the windows and living with the temperature set at 65 degrees. Every year they increase the rent at least 10%. We have mold in the ceiling and there solution was to paint over it. Now we have large black spots all over the ceiling which I dont think is safe. Be careful when you ask for cheap rent. They will raise it and raise it again. Gas bills are extreme and the this place is an immigrant living quarters. Management will respond by calling me a bigot. Come visit the place and look around. It is a safe place to live, the maintenance is not that bad aside from the mold problem. I am not going into the pest problems either. Thanks for your time

Yes, I consider a person to be a bigot when they put all those unlike themselves on a lower level.

Heating costs are higher nationwide. This is not a Carriage Park problem, a Pittsburgh problem or a Pennsylvania problem. Both management and residents are at the mercy of the utility companies when it pertains to utility costs.

I agree that children should not be playing in the streets and parents should keep them from doing so.

The rental market in 2006 is a much different market than it has been the last few years. The local economy has improved, the availability of apartments has gone down and that tends to lead to higher rents. Carriage Park regularly monitors the market conditions and the rental rates of our competitors to insure we are offering reasonable rates. Many residents who moved in after 2001 benefited from a very soft market and rental concessions or "free rent". Those are short term offers and were described as such at the time of rental.

I'm sorry that you have not enjoyed your experience here at Carriage Park more than you did. I wish you the best in your new home.

This person didn't say anything here that isn't untrue. I, myself, am a foreigner, yet, i HAVE to agree. When i come home, the hallways reek of curry. The hallways are lined with sandals clearly made in India (I can recognise them a mile away). I WILL NOT be renewing my lease here.

OH OH OH, I forgot! The indian kids riding their bikes down the hallways at 8 am! What a lovely way to wake up when you work until midnight and don't even get to sleep until 2 or 3 AM.

At least 1 of the 2 elevators was out of commission for a period of over 7 months. I was forced to use the stairs on many occasions, as I was too impatient to wait 10 minutes for an elevator in an 8 story building. Stairs are now my enemy. Also, work would commence at 7 am. It wasn't quiet. They would use grinders, saws, and whatever else made the most noise. They were louder in the morning than they were in the afternoon while working on the elevator. Getting people off of the tennis courts is a pain. Last summer, they locked them. This year, they're open to all at all times, and 3 pm onwards, there is a roving gang of kids destroying them.

That's all for now.

i also live with a bunch of India people too but there cool and they have never done anything to bother me other then the curry smell at times but i do like curry so its not an overly big deal. But there is a problem with people coming into a society that they have never seen before. A lot of them do not know how to drive and use the parking lot to practice in. That can be a pain at times when they never look behind them when the back out. There is a pest problem here really bad. I know how it is to live in a different country since i lived for a while in Manilla

The office staff really is bad but the maintenance people are really cool and always fixed my problems right away. Ive talked with a lot of them and there really cool people. Too bad the office staff is not. The gas bills are very high for no reason. I have a few friends who live right up the road and there not paying as much as we are here.

I think we need to get together and talk about these things and maybe seek legal action on this topic.

If you don't like the place, and are racist , then move out already.
