DON'T RENT HERE

These apartments are way overpriced for their age and condition. The appliances are all dated and my bathroom tub finish is completely worn. My pipes froze twice over the winter. Large signs are posted to keep the hot water dripping all winter long. (They must not be insulated at all because the units are extremely cold. Two of my neighbors and myself all purchased space heaters.)
Don't let the "Rent Specials" fool you. This is the only apartment complex in the area where you pay either a $13.00 or $15.00 surcharge for water and another $10.00 "refuse fee."
I can't comment on the tennis or basketball courts, but the gym's treadmill was broken for several months before it was ever fixed, one of the two grills in the pool area broke as well during the summer and was never fixed. During the month of September the pool had posted hours, but I went to use it no less than 5 or 6 times and it was locked when it was supposed to be open to residents -- I ended up at our municipal pool where I had to pay admission!
During the summer my water heater broke and water spilled out into my bedroom and saturated the carpeting. I was unable to use my apartment for two days during the clean up process and Chestnut Ridge never offered any other accommodations for me during this time.
I can honestly say that the best things about Chestnut Ridge are the location and the parking. There are several other newer complexes in the area -- put your money into those, not Chestnut Ridge.
